Ethical and Moral Standards
Fiberstar adheres to high moral and ethical standards in every aspect of our business.
Majority of our portfolio comes from crops that use high efficiency agriculture. The plants are given precise amounts of water and nutrients that are delivered directly to the root system. This significantly reduces run off and water usage compared to other types of orange groves.
Fiberstar reduces the environmental impacts of other manufacturing (the orange juice industry) by using a by-product of that industry. The pulp that remains from juice processing used to be dumped or used as animal feed. Now that pulp is sent to Fiberstar’s manufacturing facility to become Citri-Fi®.
Very little waste is generated during the production of Citri-Fi® citrus fibers. All fresh orange pulp is received in either bulk tanker of by direct pipeline from our neighboring vendor. Therefore no packaging waste is generated by this primary raw material. No chemical processing aids or additives are used during manufacture of Citri-Fi® citrus fiber, which further reduces the environmental impact of this product.
The manufacture of Citri-Fi® citrus fiber uses less water during manufacture than many ingredients with similar functionality. Furthermore, the water used for sanitation and a significant portion of the water removed from the orange pulp (2-3%) is treated and recycled for use.
Fiberstar also recycles when it can such as super sacks and totes.
The Citri-Fi products enhance food product profiles by improving nutritional content and replacing chemical and synthetic ingredients to support healthy lifestyles. Citri-Fi® may be used to reduce usage of higher volume ingredients that have a greater environmental impact, including eggs, oils, and meats.
